Sasha Havrysevych is a Ukrainian lens-based artist. She was born in Radomyshl, Zhytomyr region and now based in Kyiv. Studied theory of literature in Kyiv National Linguistic University and photography in Kyiv School of Photography. Being early in her artistic career she was supported by Adobe. In summer 2023 Sasha became Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund recipient. She was shortlisted in Shutter Hub YEARBOOK 2024 Awards with 'She sells' project.
Projecting my experience of literature studying I work with photography through poetry looking for fresh strategies of creating a narrative. I am searching for the balance between the documentary nature of photography with its direct representation and the symbolism of fiction literature, its intention to reinvent reality without following the facts strictly.
My interests are centered around humans as spiritual creatures; their relationships with God; the social connections and place of solitude in our lives, as a result the frequent conflict of inner and external worlds. During my workflow I raise the question of humanity, love and compassion, searching for these qualities in the daily routine of Ukranians.
